When we set foot into 2018, we had no idea this year was going to be one helluva journey. This year, we saw some weird trends taking over the internet (who could forget Drake’s In My Feelings challenge aka Kiki Challenge that watched everyone jump out of the car and dance like there’s no tomorrow) and there were more weddings than we could handle. 2018 also broke our hearts with break up, divorce and deaths. And then there were also the Kardashian babies born one after the other. And boy, did Marvel Studios have a “marvel’lous year!
We pulled out our year book to look back at all that happened, and we decided, let’s share some of those moments which rocked our foundations with you all. These moments comprise of celebrities, movies and all things Hollywood. Let’s begin?
Weddings: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth:
Phew! This was the year when Hollywood decided to put a ring on it. Most of our favourite celebrities tied the knot with their special someone. Meghan Markle got married in a fairytale wedding with Prince Harry at the Windsor Castle in May. Her BFF aka Priyanka Choprafollowed Meghan’s footsteps and married her boyfriend Nick Jonas in a regal style wedding at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhavan Palace in December.
While these two weddings had a lot of noise surrounding them, there were some hush-hush ones which rocked the year as well. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were one of those celebrity couples who stunned everyone when they confirmed that they have gone from Mr and Miss to Mr and Mrs Bieber in November. Following his footsteps, Miley Cyrus also recently revealed that she had tied the knot with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth on December 23.
Breakups: Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, Ariana Grande and Mac Miller, and Cardi B and Offset:
Heartbreak was one of the most common emotions for many of us this year. Why? Can you look at the list of breakups this year? Jennifer Aniston parted ways with Justin Theroux in March. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan also announced that they are no longer together soon after that. Ariana Grande broke up with Mac Miller, got engaged Pete Davidson and then broke up with him as well. And the most recent one being Cardi B walking away from Offset. We’re getting emotional all over again! Someone pass the tissues please.
Babies: The Kardashian babies and many more!
The year started off with three Kardashian babies entering the world one after the other. Khloe, Kim and Kylie Jenner welcomed their baby girls – True, Chicago and Stormi. Apart from them, supermodel Kate Upton welcomed a baby girl in November, Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin welcomed a supergirl in November. Former Disney star Hilary Duff also welcomed a princess in October. Suits actor Patrick J Adams turned father to a cute little angle in October were a few celebrities who turned parents this year.
Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther:
We were tripping over movies like A Quiet Place, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born but nothing took our breath away like Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. The two Marvel movies proved that the MCU fandom is crazy! The two movies were the biggest blockbusters of the year, overshadowing franchises like Mission: Impossible (Mission: Impossible – Fallout released in July) and Star Wars (Solo: A Star Wars Story released weeks after Avengers: Infinity War released.) The Avengers movie surpassed the $2 billion mark whereas the Chadwick Boseman starrer flick cashed in more than $1.3 billion on the worldwide front.
Noah Centineo:
Woah! Woah! Woah! You think we’d forget the international heartthrob of 2018? When Noah Centineo was wooing Lana Condor’s Lara Jean in the YA movie, he sneaked into our hearts as well. Ever since the Netflix movie released, the actor has been one of the most talked about star and we just had to mention him in the list.
Deaths: Stan Lee, Avicii and Mac Miller:
It was unfortunate year for entertainment as we lost some of the most talented stars this year. April brought in the sad news of Avicii’s demise. The renowned DJ passed away after he chose to end his life. Mac Miller died following an accidental drug overdose in September. Renowned comic book writer Stan Lee died in November caused due to a cardiac arrest which was triggered by respiratory, congestive heart failure.
