Princess Anne Is 2018 Hardest Working Royal · Guardian Liberty Voice - Guardian Liberty Voice

Anne

2018 was a year of events for the Royal Family. There were two weddings, a new baby and a 70th birthday for the next in line for the thrown. The press was in a frenzy for any gossip about the wives of two of the royals.

92-year-old Queen Elizabeth has stopped going to events abroad and 97-year-old Prince Philip is now retired from public events. Picking up the responsibilities are the Queen’s children – Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward.

One royal participated in more events than the others. Princess Anne blew away her three brothers by with close to 200 working more than 180 royal engagements in 2018 as the Daily Telegraph reports who examined the court circular (the official book of royal engagements). That is 20 more days than Prince Charles, who Prince Harry had dubbed as The Man Who Never Stops.

In 2017, Anne also came out in first place on the chart with 455 events, receptions and dinners. She also had another 85 events overseas. In 2017, her 540 appearances were more than Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry combined.

Anne At Events

Anne does things her way when she attends events. For example, Meghan Markle loves meeting people and the crowds, which could be because of her background as an actress. The complete opposite is Princess Anne who will not shake the hand of her fans.

The documentary Queen of the World discussed how the Princess has always had this rule. She felt that she couldn’t shake hands with everybody, so she would shake hands with nobody to make it fair.

Queen Elizabeth continued to work more than 120 during the year. The Queen Mum primarily hosted state visits.

The Next Generation Of Royals

The Queen’s children followed behind her. The baby, the Duke of Wessex, Prince Edward, had 170 engagements. Prince Charles worked 160 days. Coming up in last place was Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, with 140 days.

Looking at the Royal’s schedule, it showed that older royals had more traditional roles and duties such as visiting different charities plaque unveilings.

It is traditional that the grandchildren of the Queen participate in fewer engagements than their elders. The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William and the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry have attended more official events in 2018 than 2017. William had 120 events in 2018 and Harry had 90 days. William is the one who is involved with the projects that are groundbreaking which includes mental health charities and being the royal who supported and comforted the Grenfell Tower Survivors.

To be expected, the newest members of the royal family had the least days worked. Both women had about 50 events. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex became part of the Royal Family on May 19 after she married, at Windsor’s St George Chapel, Prince Harry. The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton took some time off after Prince Louis was born on April 23.

2019

2019 may perhaps become very busy for the youngest royals who are known as the ‘fab four.’  Meghan will announce which patronages she will participate in and they will continue to work on the Royal Foundation.
