Meet the model Carlha Linares - the Irish professional Meghan Markle look-a-like
Meet the professional Meghan Markle look-a-like who has moved all the way from Columbia to Galway to marry her own Irish Prince Charming.
Stunning model Carlha Linares, 27, is a dead-ringer for the former Suits actress and since arriving in Ireland over six months has been booked for numerous modelling jobs - including an appearance on TV3’s Xpose - posing as 36-year-old Markle.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror on Friday, the Duchess of Sussex doppleganger said: “I’m getting so much work as a look-a-like for Meghan Markle here. I did a few photocalls for that around the Royal wedding.
“Ireland has literally opened their arms to me and I’m amazed at the reaction but I’m so grateful too.”
Carlha, who is signed to Catwalk Modelling Agency, revealed how she was swept off her feet by Galway man Brian Callinan, 34, and after a whirlwind eight-month romance in her native country of Columbia she decided to move to Ireland to be with him and the pair now live in Moycullen.
“I met this charming, tender and gold hearted Irish boy in Columbia in the last three days that he was there, he was travelling.
“He decided to stay in Columbia for eight months and at the end we decided to move to here and in the first week he decided to pop the question in Ireland six months ago.
“We’re getting married in 2020. I didn’t just gain the man of my dreams I became part of his family too. I’m really blessed.” Carlha was on hand to launch Galway’s 4* Galmont Hotel & Spa’s programme of activity for this year’s horse racing festival and the search for the ultimate #GalwayGirlSquad.
The brunette, who went to university in her father’s home country of Venezuela, revealed it was there that she also was a runway model for five years.
She said: “Modelling in South America is very strict but that makes you learn a lot. I did a few contests with Ford Models and I also was one of the finalists for Miss Venezuela, 900 girls start in the beginning and they cut me at 30 because my legs were too skinny for what they were looking for.
“I like that it’s more diverse in Ireland and they are open to new faces and there is a different appreciation of beauty. Venezual is a lot more competitve. The girls are so friendly in Ireland and that’s something you don’t have in South America.”
