Meghan Markle Just Had Her First Royal Glove Moment at Prince Louis"s Christening

The royal christening of Prince Louis took place today, and it was a stylish royal affair. From the Duchess of Cambridge"s all-white Alexander McQueen ensemble to pregnant Pippa Middleton"s pale blue shirtdress, the christening has been a delightful display of regal fashion.

As you might imagine, new auntie Meghan Markle did not disappoint. The Duchess of Sussex went for an all-olive look, with a belted Ralph Lauren dress, Stephen Jones hat, clutch and pumps that all matched perfectly.

Meghan also appeared to be carrying gloves, making this the first time she sported the accessory since becoming a royal in May. Duchess Meghan may be following in the footsteps of the Queen, who always sports gloves at public events as she shakes the hands of well-wishers.

This isn"t quite Meghan"s first gloved moment with the royal family. When she joined them at church on Christmas Day for the first time, shortly after she and Harry became engaged, she wore a belted Sentaler long wide collar wrap coat in camel over a burgundy dress, which she paired with boots, gloves, and a hat.

Those gloves were presumably worn because it was cold—today"s, carried on a warm day in July, are something altogether different. They seem to be part of the elegant and ladylike style Duchess Meghan has adopted since the wedding. In the last few months, we"ve had a chance to see how her personal style has evolved to match her new role. She wears tailored dresses and suits and favors neutral, monochromatic looks—with the exception of the the yellow Brandon Maxwell dress that she wore to Your Commonwealth Youth Challenge reception in London last week.

Time will only tell if we"ll continue to see the Duchess of Sussex in gloves, or if we"ll see her in more bright colors. Here"s hoping for both.
