Lady Gabriella Windsor royal wedding: How is Ella related to the Queen? Will Queen attend? - Express

Lady Gabriella Windsor will wed financier Thomas Kingston in the Spring of 2019, Buckingham Palace has revealed. The two will tie the knot in a private ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, in the third royal wedding at the venue in less than a year. St George’s Chapel was also used when Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie married their significant others in 2018. The wedding guest has not yet been released by the Palace, but royal wedding watchers are speculating in whether Queen Elizabeth II will attend as Ella is closely related to the Queen.

How is Lady Gabriella Windsor related to the Queen?

Lady Gabriella Windsor is closely related to the Queen, as her father is the monarch"s cousin.

Her father, Prince Michael of Kent, is a paternal first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, being a grandson of King George V and Queen Mary.

He is currently 47th in the line of succession to the British throne, but at the time of his birth he was seventh.

Will the Queen attend the wedding?

The guest list for Lady Gabriella’s wedding will not be released to the public, Kensington Palace told the Express.co.uk.

This is because the event will be a private matter and for friends and family only.

However, high profile members of the royal family are expected to attend the nuptials this Spring.

And as the bride-to-be is closely related to the Queen through her father, rumours have it the monarch may attend like she did at her grandson Prince Harry and granddaughter Princess Eugenie’s weddings.

But although closely related, Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the wedding of Lady Gabriella’s brother Lord Frederick Windsor.

Lord Frederick tied the knot with Sophie Winkleman at Hampton Court Palace in 2009.

But royal wedding watchers could see the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa attend, as Lady Gabriella’s fiancé dated the mother-of-one before settling down with Ella and appear to have broken up on good terms.

Both Mr Kingston and Lady Gabriella attended Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017.

What do we know about the royal wedding?

Kensington Palace would not confirm any news regarding Lady Gabriella’s wedding other than the nuptials will be held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and take place in the Spring of 2019.

However, sources claim the reception after the wedding will be held at Frogmore House, a place of deep significant to Lady Gabriella.

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said the venue had "personal resonance" for the couple.

She likely referred to Lady Gabriella spending many Christmases at Windsor and her grandparents, the late Duke and Duchess of Kent, are buried at Frogmore.

There is unlikely to be any carriage procession or members of the public invited into the ground of Windsor Castle.
